Official Program of the 2010 Vancouver Island Short Film Festival
WELCOME
The 2010 Vancouver Island Short Film Festival is brought to you by the Nanaimo Arts Council with the assistance of a City of Nanaimo Arts and Cultural Events Grant and support from BC Gaming and the British Columbia Arts Council. The Nanaimo Arts Council is a charitable, non-profit society dedicated to the support, promotion and development of all the arts in Nanaimo and area.
This is the fifth annual Vancouver Is- land Short Film Festival. We received many entries from Vancouver Island and a number from the national and international film making community. From the numerous excellent entries, the three- person jury selected 13 films that will be shown at the festival.
Awards will be given out in the catego- ries of Best Film, Best Writing, Best Performance, Best Technical, Best Music and People’s Choice, which will be voted on both nights after the show. The Awards will be distributed at the screen- ing and ceremony on Saturday, February 13th.
The VISFF pays artist’s fees to all participating filmmakers. Cash prizes will also be awarded in several categories, including $400 for Best Film and $100 in 5 other categories. Thanks to all the organizers, sponsors and volunteers for their efforts in producing this excellent community event.
