General submissions are now open for the 21th annual Vancouver Island Short Film Festival!

The 21st annual VISFF will screen at the at VIU’s Malaspina Theatre on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of Snuneymuxw First Nation in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, on April 17th & 18th, 2026, featuring 20 original short films celebrating the art and craft of short-form storytelling curated into two unique programs, and our youth program. Each show will include Q&A sessions with featured filmmakers and the Goldie Awards Ceremony on Saturday evening. Audiences will be able to experience the full festival in person and online.

If you are 18 years old or younger, submissions are open for our Youth Showcase which will be held on Saturday, April 25th.
