Movies on the Radio 2024 – Episode 4 with Javier Badillo
Our host, Sean Enns, talks with Leo-nominated Venezuelan-Canadian writer, director and producer Javier Badillo about being a touring musician, punk rock and how that shaped his collaborative approach to filmmaking. In Episode One of Movies on the Radio, our host, Sean Enns talks with Johnny Blakeborough, the co-founder of the Vancouver Island Short Film Festival (VISFF) and Zoey Heath, the current Festival Director. In Episode 5 of “Movies on the Radio,” Our host Sean Enns talks with the Jenn L Ashton the Award-winning Coast Salish author and visual artist and creator of the short, Land Back film, “What the Dirt Don’t Like.”
Pauline and Sean talk about Jenn’s approach to creativity and how sometimes it’s what you leave out that makes the most impact. The two discuss Jenn’s past as a music producer and her work as an Authenticity Reader for Penguin/Random House USA.

In Episode 6 of “Movies on the Radio,” our host Sean Enns talks with Connor Gaston, past VISFF Goldie Winner and director of “Year of the Tortoise.” The two discuss Connor’s dig into the themes and symbols in Connor’s films and all the ways that short films make space for experimentation.

In Episode 7 of “Movies on the Radio” listen to host Sean Enns talk with Stephanie Joan, the producer of “En Dehors de Toi.” This stunning short film follows a young, closeted ballerina who jeopardizes her relationship with her girlfriend when she refuses to be open about her sexuality for the sake of her ballet career.
