Gabriel Abrantes - Portugal

Gabriel Abrantes (b. 1984, North Carolina) is a Lisbon-based visual artist and filmmaker whose “Diamantino” (co-directed with Daniel Schmidt, 2018) won the Grand Prize at Cannes’ Critics Week, and whose horror film “Amelia’s Children” (2024) won the Jury Prize at Gerardmer.

His films have won prizes at the Berlinale and Locarno Film Festival, where he received the Golden Leopard, and have premiered at major festivals including TIFF and NYFF, with exhibitions at prestigious institutions including Tate Modern, Palais de Tokyo, and MIT List Visual Arts Center.
