The Youth Showcase

The 2026 Youth Showcase is on April 18th at 1pm!

The 21st annual VISFF will screen at the at VIU’s Malaspina Theatre on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of Snuneymuxw First Nation in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, on April 17th & 18th, 2026, featuring 20 original short films celebrating the art and craft of short-form storytelling curated into two unique programs, and our our 10 film youth program. Each show will include Q&A sessions with featured filmmakers and the Goldie Awards Ceremony on Saturday evening. Audiences will be able to experience the full festival in person and online.

Tickets for the Youth Showcase are on sale now for both the in person program at Malaspina Theatre and the live-streamed program which can be watched from anywhere!

The official lineup for the Youth Showcase will be announced in late March.

Youth submissions closed on February 15, 2026. Submissions will reopen in the fall for 2027’s VISFF.
