Paria Shojaeian - Iran
Paria Shojaeian is a filmmaker, poet, and psychologist based in Tabriz, Iran. Born on December 23, 1989, she holds a bachelor’s degree in general psychology and a master’s degree in clinical psychology, and is currently pursuing her doctorate in psychology. Her research investigates the intersection of psychology and filmmaking, focusing on the portrayal of psychological themes in cinema.
Active in literature since 2005, Shojaeian has published three poetry collections and translated a Turkish poetry collection into Persian. Her background in literature informs her filmmaking approach, allowing for a nuanced exploration of emotional and psychological themes.
In 2018, she began her filmmaking journey by attending classes at the Iranian Youth Cinema Society. Her debut short film, Appetite (2020), was recognized at several international film festivals. Her second film, Headache, was completed in 2025 and filmed in Tabriz with a professional crew.
Through her work, Shojaeian seeks to explore the connections between psychology and cinema, contributing to discussions in both fields.
